Siemens Healthineers has added another FDA-approval notch to its already packed medical device portfolio belt. This time, the greenlit product is the company’s advanced imaging technology innovation known as the Symbia Pro.specta™ SPECT/CT Scanner, a single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) system.
Among the new system’s many bells and whistles is the capability to obtain as many as 64 slices of low-dose CT, enabling improved image quality as well as fully automated SPECT motion correction. Also baked in is an automated workflow guidance tool called myExam Companion. The system’s range of customizable clinical tools will guarantee top-notch imaging quality for cardiology, neurology, oncology, and orthopedic applications.
“Siemens Healthineers is proud to introduce the Symbia Pro.specta SPECT/CT scanner, which provides our customers with the ideal vehicle for transitioning from their SPECT-only and first-generation SPECT/CT cameras to a state-of-the-art SPECT/CT scanner that can perform a full spectrum of nuclear medicine examinations,” said the head of Siemens’ Molecular Imaging division, Dr. Jim Williams. “The Symbia Pro.specta will help healthcare institutions overcome barriers to care by ensuring accessibility through its ease of use and ability to fit into existing SPECT rooms.” The company also indicated that the new scanner’s accessibility will make it a natural fit in many existing SPECT rooms—and it can also serve as a replacement for the Symbia Intevo™ line of SPECT/CT scanners.
