The Tampa metro area is rapidly growing and is second only to Miami in the state of Florida in terms of population. It is also home to some of the most groundbreaking healthcare technology companies in the world, and the executives on this year’s list have led their companies in impressive fashion while helping patients at the same time.

Some of the elite leaders on this year’s list include Stan Nelson of Thermo Fisher Scientific, who is responsible for driving growth and strategy for the laboratory products division representing about $1 billion dollars of annual revenue. Meanwhile, Dr. Michael Eaddy of AbbVie has more than 20 years of experience leveraging real-world datasets to demonstrate the clinical and economic impact of diseases while also highlighting the value of pharmaceutical products and devices. And Gene McCabe of Evernorth measures success not in his own promotion, but instead in the benefits and results accrued to clients, colleagues, and companies where he directs his efforts.

Prior to Medtronic, Mitchiner spent more than 12 years in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Major. He graduated from UGA Mary Frances Early College of Education with an MEd in kinesiology and exercise science, and from the United States Military Academy at West Point with an undergraduate degree in engineering.

 

2. Kim Gutierrez
Company: AstraZeneca
Title: Executive Business Director CV Specialty Sales

Kim Gutierrez is the Executive Business Director CV Specialty Sales of AstraZeneca. She first joined the company in 2004 as District Sales Manager. AstraZeneca is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development, and commercialization of prescription medicines. Previously, Gutierrez was a senior district business manager of diabetes at Bristol-Myers Squibb, and before that a marketing analyst at Merck. She earned an undergraduate degree in education, science, and health from the University of Florida.

 

3. Kealoha Deutsch

Deutsch graduated from Florida International University with an MS in biomedical and medical engineering and from the University of Florida with an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and engineering science.

 

4. Stan Nelson

5. Michael Eaddy

Dr. Michael Eaddy is Vice President of the Real-World Evidence Center of Expertise at AbbVie, a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, and delivers innovative medicines. Prior to joining AbbVie, he was Vice President of Scientific Consulting at AmerisourceBergen, leading an international team of HEOR consultants that developed global business strategies for pharmaceutical companies. He has received the AmerisourceBergen Pursuit of Purpose Award, a Green Thumb Award, and has more than 60 peer reviewed publications.

Eaddy earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in pharmaceutical and health outcomes sciences, a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, and a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of South Carolina. He also attended Benedict College, where he was an Honors College and Trustee Scholar.

 

6. Tonya Slaton

7. Michael Scholler

Scholler graduated from Dalhousie University with an MBA in international business and marketing and from Wilfrid Laurier University with an undergraduate degree in economics.

 

8. Kim Armbrust

Armbrust graduated from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences with a master’s in clinical research administration and from University of South Florida with an undergraduate degree in accounting.

 

9. Shylendra Kumar
Company: GSK
Title: Senior Director, Regulatory Innovations Solutions Architect

Shylendra Kumar is the Senior Director of BeiGene, a global biotechnology company that is developing and commercializing innovative and affordable oncology medicines to improve treatment outcomes and access for far more patients worldwide. With a broad portfolio, it is expediting development of its diverse pipeline of novel therapeutics through its internal capabilities and collaborations. Kumar first got his start in 1992 as a data analyst at Boston University School of Public Health. From there, he went on to UMASS Lowell, before eventually rising to Senior Director of Regulatory Innovation at BeiGene, his most recent position prior to joining GSK. Kumar graduated from Boston University School of Public Health with an MPH in epidemiology and biostatistics, and from Bangalore University with an MA in social sciences and an undergraduate degree in physics, chemistry, and math.

 

10. Gene McCabe

Title: Senior Director of 340B Sales & Account Management

Gene McCabe is the Senior Director of 340B Sales and Account Management at Evernorth. He first joined the company in 2021. Evernorth is a health services company that delivers innovative and flexible solutions for health plans, employers, and government programs.

Previously, McCabe was a Senior Director of 340B Sales at Express Scripts, and before that a senior account manager at Accredo Specialty Pharmacy, a division of Express Scripts. 11. Ryan Harris

Title: Vice President and General Manager, Government and Manufacturer Services

Ryan Harris is the Vice President and General Manager, Government and Manufacturer Services at Agiliti. In his position, Harris leads Agiliti’s support for the Division of the Strategic National Stockpile (DSNS), Assistant Secretary Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Department of Defense (DoD), Veterans Affairs (VA), and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s). With the onset of the COVID pandemic in 2019, the federal government turned to Harris and Agiliti to ensure the rapid availability of life saving equipment in all 50 states and supporting U.S. Territories.

Harris' 20+ years of emergency preparedness and health care management experience, both government and commercial, include positions with DoD Health Affairs, The Army Surgeon General's Office, and The Joint Staff Surgeon's Office. Since joining Agiliti in 2016, he has been one of the company's most transformative leaders, establishing Agiliti as a critical infrastructure component of the U.S. Healthcare System, which ultimately lead to Agiliti’s successful initial public offering in 2021. Before joining Agiliti, Harris held multiple leadership positions with CareFusion prior to the Becton Dickinson acquisition in 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida and a Master of Science in Technical Management as well as an MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

 

12. Brian Hutfless

Title: Vice President, South Zone

Brian Hutfless is the Vice President South Zone of Canon Medical Systems USA, Inc. He first joined the company in 2017. 14. Nathan Folkert

16. David Dlugo

18. Steven Passik

Title: Vice President, Scientific Affairs and Head of Clinical Data Programs

Steven Passik is the Vice President of Scientific Affairs and Head of Clinical Data Programs at Millennium Health, an accredited specialty laboratory with over a decade of experience delivering timely, accurate, and clinically-actionable information through its nationwide medication monitoring and drug testing services. Earlier in his career, he worked with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as an associate professor. Passik graduated from the New School for Social Research with a PhD in clinical psychology and an MS in psychology, and from Brooklyn College with an undergraduate degree in psychology.

 

19. Siddharth Rao

Title: Vice President, CIO, and Head of IT and Digital Transformation

21. John Maddox

22. Hemali Joshi

Hemali Joshi is Senior Vice President and Chief Data Officer for CAN Community Health, Inc. She first joined the company in 2017. Next, she went to OhioHealth, Corp., before eventually rising to the Pharmacy Services Manager role at Care Resource Community Health Center and 340B Pharmacy Compliance Manager at CAN. In her current position at CAN, Hemali provides data-driven solutions and expertise in federal drug discount programs, QA/QI, and other healthcare programs. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in IT/GIS Systems, from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and most recently, a Masters in Legal Studies in Healthcare Law from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

 

23. Paige Nardi

Before joining Scipher, she was VP of Sales at Envolve Pharmacy Solutions, a Centene company, where she was responsible for the development and growth of the external PBM business with a focus on health plans, employer groups, municipalities, and unions. She spent eight years working in the advanced diagnostic laboratory space after working for 16 years in the pharmaceuticals industry. She received an MBA from Benedictine University and a Bachelor of Arts from Augustana College.

 

24. Lynn Black
Company: Orsini Specialty Pharmacy
Title: Chief Operating Officer

Lynn Black is the Chief Operating Officer of Orsini Specialty Pharmacy. She first joined the company in 2019. 25. Melissa Stefko

Melissa Stefko is the Senior Director of Quality at the FlexPro Group, a top provider of professional services, advancing the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry through tangible outcomes. Beginning her career as a microbiologist, Stefko is a highly experienced pharmaceutical and biotechnology executive with a background in Quality Assurance and Quality Control. Academically, Stefko holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Florida State University, where she co-founded the Pre-Pharmacy Informational Leadership and Learning Society. She also earned an MBA, Master of Science in Biotechnology, and a Regulatory Affairs Certificate from the University of Maryland Global Campus. An active member of the American Society for Quality, Stefko is a Certified Quality Auditor, Certified GMP Professional, and is on the committee for both her local ASQ RAPS Chapters. In addition, she is a member of the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding, serving on the Regulatory Committee, a member of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society, and is on the Steering Committee for the International Peptide Society.
