Tend Is Changing The Face Of Dental Care With Patient-Centered Innovations

Many do not receive the proper dental care they need as a result of high costs, lack of time, and anxiety. Tend is hoping to change that. The company was founded with the goal of making dental care a personalized and technologically advanced experience, calling itself, “the first dentist that people actually look forward to.”

The company launched in October of 2019 and is currently operating six of its own clinics located in New York City. Tend will be opening fourteen other studios in NYC and also looks to expand outside of the state with Boston and Washington, D.C. as its first targets.

As part of its innovative approach, Tend has implemented modern technologies such as online booking and in-studio screens to walk patients through their treatments. It also offers personalized treatment plans and online portals for communication between clinicians and patients. Other advances utilized by the company include low noise drills and twenty second x-rays to make the patient experience as comfortable as possible.

CEO and Co-Founder Doug Hudson claims, “We have completely modernized and refreshed the experience, making it something that people actually look forward to. We've launched a suite of products that people are going to be excited about. That's what we're creating here at Tend.”

Tend is launching a suite of “comprehensive services and oral care products,” including invisible Breezy Braces, emergency care, oral surgery, and pediatric care. The company is currently serving over 20,000 patients with 256 team members. With demand outgrowing studio capacity, these numbers will only continue to increase.

Tend has recently announced a $125 million capital raise for its journey toward a modern and worry-free dental care approach. This round was led by Addition and joined by preexisting investors GV, Juxtapose, Redpoint, and Zigg Capital. The company has raised a total of $198 million to date.

The dental care startup is transforming the dental industry by tackling its biggest issues. With online booking and guided treatments, price transparency is also playing a key role in the patient experience.  The company is also launching a suite of dentist-designed products to gain desired results. Through this Series C funding round, Tend plans to further expand its team and locations to as it aims to broaden the reach of its patient-centered innovations.
