Stryker to Acquire Vertos Medical to Enhance Minimally Invasive Pain Management

Stryker, a global leader in medical technologies, confirmed a definitive agreement to acquire Vertos Medical. Vertos Medical is renowned for its minimally invasive therapy for chronic lower back pain induced by lumbar spinal stenosis. This acquisition aims to bolster Stryker’s portfolio in minimally invasive pain management, particularly through Vertos Medical's mild® procedure. This procedure offers relief from chronic back pain and may improve mobility without requiring major surgery, meeting the growing demand for less invasive treatment options that facilitate quicker recovery and a faster return to daily activities.

Stryker, which serves over 150 million patients annually through its innovative products and services in med-surg, neurotechnology, orthopedics, and spine, views this acquisition as a strategic enhancement of its offerings. Andy Pierce, Group President of MedSurg and Neurotechnology at Stryker, highlighted that the acquisition would strengthen the organization’s minimally invasive pain management solutions and expand its reach in ambulatory surgery centers. The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, will see Stryker and Vertos Medical continue as separate entities until finalization.
