ResMed Acquires MEDIFOX DAN For $1 Billion

MEDIFOX DAN, a privately held German out-of-hospital software solutions standout, has been acquired by San Diego, California-based medical device company ResMed in a definitive agreement with its previous owner, software and services investor Hg. MEDIFOX DAN designs innovative products for providers across the broad spectrum of the care continuum, with clinical, financial, and operational solutions for day-to-day matters such as care documentation, personnel planning, administration, and billing, among others. Its portfolio will complement that of ResMed’s flagship SaaS brands, Brightree and MatrixCare.

MEDIFOX DAN’s preexisting German customer base will tie in nicely with ResMed’s already thriving business in the country, where it has built a reputation as a leading cloud-centric medical devices provider for patients with sleep apnea and other respiratory conditions.

The $1 billion deal, once it passes regulatory clearances, will reportedly close by the end of the second quarter of ResMed’s fiscal 2023 (December 31, 2022), and the buyer will leverage its existing credit facilities to finance the transaction. The buyout is estimated to provide a significant boost to ResMed’s non-GAAP diluted earnings per share. MEDIFOX DAN’s operations, including its management structure, employee base, locations, and business processes, will remain intact, with Co-Managing Directors Dr. Thorsten Schliebe and Christian Städtler expected to stay in their current positions.
