Quest Diagnostics And Walmart Health Partnership Adds Consumer-Initiated Laboratory Testing

Quest Diagnostics will soon be offering consumer-initiated laboratory testing. This development comes as part of a long-standing partnership with Walmart meant to give individuals more control over their personal health care by improving the availability of high-quality health services. The solution, powered by the QuestDirect™ test platform, gives users access to purchasable laboratory tests comparable in quality to those ordered by healthcare providers. Individuals will be able to choose among over 50 tests covering digestive health, allergies, heart health, women's health, infectious diseases, and general health.

A recent Quest Diagnostics Health Trends™ report revealed that 60% of adults in the U.S. admit to delaying or altogether skipping some in-person medical appointments or treatments amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Giving them the chance to purchase top tier laboratory testing with 24/7 availability and mobile device convenience will hopefully help mitigate this trend. Chairman, President, and CEO of Quest Diagnostics Steve Rusckowski said, "While many are too busy or face barriers to engage in in-person doctors' appointments, others choose to proactively arm themselves with diagnostic insights before engaging with one. Our close relationship with Walmart has allowed us to create a solution that is high quality and accessible. Powered by QuestDirect™ from Quest Diagnostics, this new solution can broaden access to laboratory testing, health insights, and support for a range of conditions for potentially better outcomes."

Tests can be browsed and purchased through Walmart's website, and all are reviewed and then ordered by a licensed physician.
