Northwell Health Taps Epic To Lead EHR Integration Effort

Nonprofit integrated healthcare network, Northwell Health, has entered into an agreement with Epic, a leading medical records software company, to integrate its new next-gen electronic health record (EHR) system. As it moves on from using Allscripts, Northwell has announced that this new partnership is a milestone in its ongoing digital transformation initiative.

Northwell’s ultimate goal is to achieve a singular patient record that is available across every possible venue of care including ambulatory, emergency, inpatient and post-acute care to improve clinical continuity and care coordination In addition to investing in improved EHR to help shape care delivery as well as offer more clarity on revenue cycle management across the enterprise. Northwell has set its sights on 2025 as the year it will officially go live with the new EHR which will be preceded by a phase-to-phase preparation roll out.

"Implementing Epic at Northwell will require a multi-year effort re-visioning the consumer experience, clinical workflow and standards followed by configuration and ultimately activation," said the company’s Executive Vice President of Enterprise Services, Joseph Moscola. "We are at the start of an exciting digital transformation journey, which includes utilizing Google Cloud to discover data insights and refining our customer relationship management to create personalized experiences."
