Abbott and NACHC Collaborate to Combat Food Insecurity Through Innovation Incubator Initiative

Abbott and the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) have partnered to address food insecurity and improve health outcomes through the Innovation Incubator initiative. This year, eight community health centers have been selected to receive funding, expert guidance, and training to design and test innovative solutions aimed at enhancing nutrition and care in their communities. The initiative seeks to integrate nutritious food into clinical care, addressing chronic conditions like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Each selected health center will receive $30,000 to develop and implement its projects, with additional recognition awards available at a competitive pitch session in Fall 2024. The results will be shared with over 1,400 health centers nationwide, potentially benefiting more than 31 million patients.

Abbott, a global healthcare leader, supports this initiative as part of its broader mission to increase access and affordability in health, a key priority of its 2030 Sustainability Plan. Abbott’s portfolio includes diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals, and branded generic medicines, serving people in over 160 countries. NACHC, the largest primary care network in the US, focuses on advancing health equity and addressing social determinants of health. Together, Abbott and NACHC aim to create sustainable, effective strategies to improve nutrition and health outcomes in underinvested communities, leveraging the expertise and innovation of community health centers.
