Siemens Healthineers Biograph Trinion PET/CT Scanner Cleared by FDA

Siemens Healthineers has obtained FDA authorization for its Biograph Trinion, a PET/CT scanner known for its high performance and energy-efficiency. The scanner is equipped with a scalable, air-cooled digital detector that is based on LSO crystal elements, allowing for the detection of microscopic lesions with a high spatial resolution and an ultrafast time-of-flight performance of 239 picoseconds.

This technology enables rapid examinations and minimal radiation exposure, with an effective sensitivity of up to 128 cps/kBq. The CT technology, which is based on the Siemens SOMATOM go. platform, provides high-quality, low-dose, and rapid scanning capabilities, with the ability to generate up to 128 slices. The Biograph Trinion is engineered to provide user and patient convenience, enhanced by AI and the myExam Companion interface. This interface automates tasks and guides users through examinations to ensure consistent results.

The Biograph Trinion is designed for simplicity and sustainability, featuring an air-cooling system that is easier to install than conventional water-cooled systems. The device's setup and operation are streamlined by a mobile workflow, facilitated by the Scan&Go tablet and remote control. To enhance patient comfort, the scanner includes a patient camera and mood lighting. The integration of computer technology within the gantry eliminates the need for a separate equipment room, while its compact footprint fits standard PET/CT rooms. This energy-efficient design includes a sophisticated power-save mode, capable of reducing energy consumption by up to 46%. Additionally, the axial field of view is scalable, allowing on-site enhancements without disrupting workflow.
